Adriaan Philip Olivier (30), a South African professional hunter was convicted of trespassing and fined $150 by Harare Magistrate Mr Lazini Ncube. He was convicted on his own plea of guilty.
Olivier was arrested after he drove his vehicle through the barricades at State House along Borrowdale Road at around 3 am. The road is closed every day between 6 pm and 6 am for security reasons. Despite noting that Olivier may have been unfamiliar with the city, the magistrate did not excuse him for not observing road signs and police directions. At the time of his arrest, Olivier was in possession of nine live rounds of ammunition.
