Mnangagwa to spearhead Command Livestock Programme

The government has approved the Command Livestock Programme which it expects to revive the production of domestic animals, especially dairy and abeef cattle. The program will be spearheaded by Vice President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, who was the driving force behind the much vaunted Command Agriculture programme. Command Livestock will be funded through a government-private private partnership on a cost recovery basis.

Minister of Agriculture, Mechanisation and Irrigation Development Dr Joseph Made said:

The Command Livestock will get funds from the private sector, resources shall not exceed 4 percent interest rate with farmers expected to pay back in three years time.

…Several benefits such as cotton cake, molasses from sugar cane, yellow maize production, and leather industry will be derived from the Command Livestock.
