Magistrate Hoseah Mujaya sentenced a 37-year old man to 21 effective months in prison for impregnating his cousin. The crime happened in South Africa. The magistrate found the man guilty of having sexual intercourse within a prohibited degree of relationship and dismissed the rape charge that he had been initially facing. After hearing all the evidence, the magistrate concluded that the two were involved in a consensual relationship. It is not clear whether the woman will be arrested. The names of the two have been withheld, but their fathers are brothers.
In his defence, the man said that the woman had fabricated a rape charge after he refused to pay a beast and $300 cash for the matter to be swept under the carpet.
Magistrate Mujaya denounced the pair’s actions saying that it was an abomination.
