Zanu-PF central committee member in court on allegations of raping sister-in-law

A Zanu-PF central committee member from Chirumanzu, Saviors Piki (46), yesterday appeared before Gweru regional magistrate Morgan Nemadire facing allegations of raping his sister-in-law. The matter was postponed to May 10 after the magistrate indicated the court wanted Piki’s wife to testify in court.

Piki is accused of raping his wife’s younger sister in January 2015, when she was aged 16 years. He denied the rape charges and in his defence said the complainant raised the issue against him to draw his sympathy after she had been confronted by her other sister in Harare over a high phone bill last year.

The complainant said she told Piki’s wife about the rape but she ignores the matter and urged her not to report the issue. She said she only reported the rape issue last year after the issue of the phone bill was raised as she felt let down by Piki’s wife who failed to stand by her when she informed her about her rape ordeal.
