Five municipal workers were arrested at the Victoria Falls Border Post last week for attempting to smuggle a consignment of the cough syrup Broncleer. The cough syrup which goes by the street name of “Bronco” was valued at $16 000. The truck was also smuggling a consignment of sweets. The municipal crew is alleged to have connived with unknown Zambians to smuggle the contraband when the truck collected refuse from the Victoria Falls bridge in the morning. Despite covering the contraband with garbage, the crew were found out after Zimra officials searched the truck following a tip-off.
