Gweru Provincial Hospital gives patients ultimatum to pay debts or face court action

Gweru Provincial Hospital yesterday gave its discharged patients with unpaid bills an eight-hour ultimatum to settle debts or risk being taken to court. The hospital seeks to recover over $500 000 in outstanding medical bills.

The text message that was sent to the patients reads:

You fail (sic) to pay your bills to Gweru Provincial Hospital, we are now processing court summons. Pay within eight hours to avoid legal action.

Gweru hospital’s medical superintendent, Fabian Mashingaidze could not be reached by NewsDay for comment yesterday.
