Met Department dismisses report that says temperatures will drop to -12

The Meteorological Services Department has dismissed as baseless and false a report warning people that temperatures were going to drop to below freezing in the next few days. The message which is circulating online and on social media warns that temperatures will drop to as low as -12 degrees celsius.

In dismissing the message, Senior Meteorologist, Mr Tich Zinyemba:

Of course we are almost in winter season and temperatures will decrease but they will never reach sub zero limits. People must be care where they get some information from.

We are notifying you that there will be a strong cold current that is going to move in the Southern part of Africa predictably,it is going to start moving on Tuesday,2 May 2017.In some coastal areas,snow will be experienced.We are all urged to stay indoors because some areas will reach -12°C ,this kind of temperature is deadly which can cause the lungs to freeze and cause instant death.Put on the warmest clothes and only go out when it is necessary.
