Zim Embassy responds to "ill-informed" SA Minister's remarks that ex-soldiers are responsible for crimes in S.A

The Zimbabweanmbassador in South Africa has taken exception to earlier remarks by South African Police Minister Fikile Mbalula. Earlier on Tuesday, Mbalula had claimed that Zimbabwean ex-soldiers were causing ‘crime havoc’ in South Africa.  Mbalula also erroneously claimed that in Zimbabwe, soldiers cannot leave the military and have to serve for life.

Said Moyo to the African News Agency:

The Zimbabwean government does not condone criminality by any of its citizens and the law must take its course wherever this is the case

We, however, cannot accept the many ill-informed elements in the said statement [Mbalula’s remarks] and we deeply regret that they were made without due regard to their accuracy.
