Speaking to ZBC the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA)’s head of commercial crimes Chris Mutangadura confirmed that the State has dropped fraud charges against Pioneer Gas owner and socialite Genius Kadungure after the complainant Wyclef Gatawa withdrew the case stating that they had agreed to settle the matter out of court.
The fraud case was scheduled to kick of this Tuesday (today). Kadungure’s lawyers had earlier wrote the NPA complaining on why Harare businessman Wicknell Chivhayo had not been arrested and joined in the proceedings despite testimony that he was involved. Advocate Thabani Mpofu under instructions from Manase and Manase Legal Practitioners challenged the attempt to have his client Chivhayo dragged into the matter.
