A Zanu-PF Councillor Stanley Sibanda (45) was ordered by Chegutu magistrate Felix Chauromwe to pay a fine of $40o or serve a four-month jail term for assaulting his wife of 23 years, Mercy Banda (43) over conjugal rights.
Banda was taken to court by his wife after he assaulted her on the eve of Independence Day for turning down his sexual advances. He was represented by Taurai Chigwedu of Mangwiro Law Chambers in Chegutu while Vote Zishiri prosecuted.
