CMED chairperson was murdered, did not commit suicide

A police officer Knowledge Duri told Harare magistrate Lazini Ncube on Friday that investigations revealed that CMED (Pvt) Ltd board chairperson, Mr Leslie John Denn was murdered and did not commit suicide as was reported.

Duri’s testimony tallies with the one given last week by CID forensic and ballistic expert, Detective Inspector Admire Mutizwa who told the court that the gun used at the crime scene was recovered from a drawer with the head and spent cartridge missing, while Denn’s body was found lying on a burnt mattress. Duri said there were also blood stains on the carpet and there was no way Denn would have shot himself and then climbed in bed. Magistrate Ncube deferred the proceeding which is expected to resume today.

Denn was found by his fiancée, Ashton Pillary who was represented by Dumisani Mthombeni while Francesca Mukumbiri representing the State.
