Relief for AFM president as High Court suspends culpable homicide trial

The Bulawayo High Court has suspended the trial of Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) in Zimbabwe president Aspher Madziyire for culpable homicide after he challenged the National Prosecuting Authority and Gweru magitsrate Musaiona Shotgame’s decision to dismiss his application for discharge in the case.

Madziyire is being accused of reckless driving which resulted in him knocking down a cyclist Tymon Mangena in 2014 along the Bulawayo-Gweru road. He is seeking to overturn a ruling dismissing his application for discharge as well as acquittal.
