DNA tests confirm that missing SA hunter was killed by crocodile in Zimbabwe

Missing South African professional hunter Scott van Zyl’s remains were found in crocodile that was shot in Zimbabwe. DNA tests on the remains confirmed that they belonged to Zan Zyl who disappeared while hunting last week.

Sakkie Louwrens, director of a South-African crime-fighting NGO said:

Permission was given for three Nile crocodiles in the area to be shot, and one of them contained Mr Van Zyl’s remains, Subsequent DNA tests have proved the remains to be those of Mr Van Zyl.

Van Zyl was married, had two children and took foreign clients on hunting trips.
