Man facing attempted murder and assault charges after he attacked people for not attending Zanu-PF meeting

Danmore Mapfumo (35) of Epworth appeared in court facing charges of attempted murder and assault after he attacked several people for not attending a Zanu-PF meeting. Harare magistrate, Barbara Chimboza, denied Mapfumo bail and advised him to apply for bail at the High Court.

According to the State Mapfumo assaulted Osman Chakaoma after a misunderstanding following Chakaoma’s desire to attend the meeting only after finishing his work. Mapfumo and 7 others assaulted Chakaoma with a log and robbed him in the process. Chakaoma was later admitted at Harare Central Hospital.

Jani Mukwati was next to be assaulted after he expressed his wish to leave his goods at home before attending the meeting. Mapfumo also assaulted police officers who tried to arrest him.
