Zanu-PF Midlands deputy chairman Kizito Chivamba dies

Zanu-PF Midlands deputy chairman and Chiwundura member of parliament Kizito Chivamba has died. He passed away around midnight at Gweru General Hospital.

Chivamba is known for shooting the late former Gweru Patrick Kombayi in the run up to the 1990 elections together with the late Elias Kanengoni. Both Chivamba and Kanengoni were sentenced for attempted murder but were however pardoned by President Robert Mugabe.

Chivamba was born on 27 August 1958 in Zaka, Masvingo.  He joined ZANU as young activist in 1972 and in 1975 he joined the people’s Movement. From 1977 to 1979 he trained in Bikita for the 1979 campaign for first general election after Ceasefire. In 1982 he became the Monomutapa youth chairman in Gweru. From 2009 to date he held the post of Provincial secretary for Health and Welfare in Midlands Province.
