Tobacco Farmers struggling to get money at auction floors

Despite the government’s directive for tobacco farmers to get $1000 on their first sale, the farmers are failing to access their cash. Some of the farmers have resorted to sleeping in the open near the auction floors in an attempt to get some of their money in cash.

The cash shortages in the country are worsening and the government has resorted to directing shops to give a maximum of $20 as cash back. The government has also directed schools to accept goats and other livestock as payment for school fees.
