Police beat soccer fans trying to get into National Sports Stadium for the independence cup final

Yesterday, several people were beaten by members of the Zimbabwe Republic Police over entry into the National Sports Stadium for the independence cup finals between Dynamos and Highlanders.

The stadium was packed resulting in the police locking the gates but some people tried to force their way into the stadium. An eyewitness who spoke to NewZimbabwe.com on condition of anonymity said that the crowd that had been shut out of the stadium tried to get into the stadium after the Dynamos and Highlanders buses were allowed in.
