Pensioners stranded as One Wallet fails to release money

Yesterday, disgruntled pensioners vowed not to leave One Wallet offices in Bulawayo after failing to get money from the mobile money company. Some of the pensioners said that they were moved from the People’ Own Savings Bank (POSB) to NetOne’s One Wallet after being promised to receive their money on time.  The pensioners were stranded because One Wallet has no option for swiping.

Some of the pensioners who spoke to the Chronicle said:

With POSB we had an option of swiping for goods and get cash back but with One Wallet we do not have this option. We were forced to join this system.

I’m diabetic and I’ve been queuing since morning without getting any money. They only gave money to about 20 people and told us that they had run out of cash. We are going to sleep in their offices today,

NetOne officials were unable to comment on the issue.
