43 people were injured when a Proliner Luxury Coach that was travelling from Harare to South Africa got involved in  a  head on  collision with a haulage truck at the Dri Fontein turn off along the Masvingo-Harare highway. The injured were taken to Mvuma Hospital while some were ferried to Harare Hospital.

Speaking to ZBC News national police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said 17 of the people who were on the bus are unaccounted for. She said by 9:00am there was still too much heat emanating from the burnt down bus shell hence police are yet to remove the remains of the deceased. She also appealed to relatives who had their relatives on the South African bus to go to Mvuma Police Station.

A team of DNA experts and pathologists has been dispatched to the scene of the bus accident with national police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba revealing the team will be working to identify the charred remains of passengers who were burnt beyond recognition. By 2:00pm there was still too much heat emanating from the bus shell, hindering the police from removing the remains of the deceased.
