Zimbabwe to receive 12 000 tonnes of Chinese rice to alleviate hunger

The Chinese government will donate 12 000 tonnes rice as part of its humanitarian assistance to Zimbabwe in order to prevent a food crisis. The Chinese signed an agreement with The Ministry of Public Service, Labour, and Social Welfare on Monday to donate 12 173 tonnes.  The consignment is expected to be received in the next two months.

Last year the Chinese donated 19 000 tonnes of rice as part of their humanitarian assistance.  Minister of Public Service, Labour, and Social Welfare Prisca Mupfumira said the rice will go a long way in alleviating the food situation in the country.
