High Court orders ZRP to stop harassing and evicting villagers from Arnold Farm to make way for First Lady

On Friday 24 March 2017 High Court Judge Justice Felistus Chatukuta ordered Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) to stop demolishing and evicting familes from Arnold Farm in Mazowe. The villagers are reportedly being removed to pave way for the First Lady Grace Mugabe.

Justice Felistus Chatukuta orderd ZRP Commissioner-General Augustine Chihuri, Lands minister, Douglas Mombeshora and Home Affairs minister Ignatius Chombo to allow some Mazowe villagers to occupy their plots at Arnold Farm and interdicted government authorities from harassing the villagers.

The villagers were assisted by Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) member Moses Nkomo. This is the second time that Zimbabwean authorities have been ordered by the High Court to stop harassing, demolishing homesteads and evicting the Mazowe villagers after the intervention of ZLHR.
