Armed robbers hold customers and employees hostage before stealing $1 200

Two masked robbers held employees and customers hostage at Blesspack Supermarket in Bulawayo’s Mahatshula North suburb before seizing $1200 after opening fire and missing one person who ambushed them and threw a mayonnaise bottle at one of the robbers.

The supermarket’s supervisor, Mr Kanzara Mudeka said there were six customers when the  incident occurred on Wednesday at about 7:30PM. He said the two were armed with a pistol and ordered everyone to lie down before making their demands. Mudeka said he was forced to show them where they kept the money. Bulawayo Police spokesperson Inspector Precious Simango confirmed the incident and urged shop owners not to keep large sums of money on their premises.
