Macheso sues Gramma Records for $15 000 in outstanding royalties

Sungura musician Alick Macheso has sued record company Gramma Records at the Harare High Court. The sungura maestro is alleging that Gramma Records failed to pay him royalties that were due to him between March 2009 and September 2014 amounting to $15 800.

In his court papers filed by his lawyers Mutuso, Taruvinga and Mhiribidi Attorneys, Macheso says

From March 2009 to September 2014, defendant issued invoices to plaintiff with a total royalty fee amounting to $15 863, which amount remain outstanding to date. Despite various demands, defendant has failed and/or refused to pay the plaintiff the sum of $15 863.

However, Gramma Records entered an appearance to defend and will be defending itself against Macheso’s claims.
