Police officer arrested in Vic Falls for trying to smuggle guns into Zambia

Sergeant Givemore Nkomo (37) of Bulawayo’s Pumula suburb was intercepted at Victoria Falls Border Post with a rifle and revolver which he intended to handover to someone in Zambia. Nkomo is stationed at CID Law and Order Bulawayo.

Nkomo travelled with the two guns and two temporary firearm permits which were registered in the name of Mr David Butcher who is a former Magistrate now based in the United Kingdom. The permits were issued 0n 28 December 2016 and would expire on 29 March 2017. A source close to the investigation told The Chronicle that Nkomo had been sent by Butcher to hand over the firearms to his son who was in Zambia. He was arrested for possession of firearms in an insecure manner.
