CAPS United makes $73 000 from TP Mazembe match

CAPS United grossed $73 483 on Sunday when a total of 13 528 fans came to watch their CAF Champions League tie against TP Mazembe on Sunday. The club took $21 286 after deductions such as the 15% which goes towards stadium levy and 6% to the Sports Commission.

The weekend’s game saw 3 500 more people paying to watch CAPS United than the 10 000 who paid to watch the game against Dynamos in October last year. CAPS United Football Club are expected to get a minimum of $550 000 for reaching the group stages of the CAF Champions League. The club’s chief executive officer said that despite increasing gate charges they enjoyed considerable support. He also said that they will reward the players for reaching the group stages.
