Zanu PF politburo nullifies Masvingo election orders rerun

Yesterday the Zanu PF politburo ordered a rerun of the elections to choose a substantive chairperson in Masvingo which it claims were inconclusive last month due to heavy rains and logistical challenges. The politburo also mentioned that some Zanu PF members should not observe the elections as they had interests in them with Harare political commissar Shadreck Mashayamombe being mentioned as an example.

Speaking to The Herald, Zanu PF secretary for administration, Dr Ignatius Chombo confirmed the nullification of the Masvingo polls and mentioned that the rerun will be done at a date to be advised. Sources who spoke to the paper also revealed that President Robert Mugabe will meet with his deputies Emmerson Mnangagwa and Phelekezela Mphoko to decide on who will preside on the next election with Joram Gumbo having presided on the previous one.
