Thandiwe Ncube, a 48-year-old teacher, at Guinea Fowl High School in Gweru was fined $200 for ill-treating a form two pupil. The teacher would allegedly verbally abuse the pupil, exclude her from lessons and give her really low marks.
The ill treatment started after the girl had missed a few days of school in January last year. This did not go down well the teacher who did not believe the explanation given by both the pupil and her mother. The court was told that she told the pupil:
I will make your life miserable’ through various means.
Gweru Magistrate Musaiona Shotgame ordered Ncube to pay a $200 fine or spend two months in prison.
