Govt on high alert after two die from Cholera

Government says it is on high alert following the death of two people in Manicaland Province from suspected cholera cases.

There has also been a confirmed cholera case in Chiredzi while three suspected cases were recorded at Chinyamukwakwa Clinic in Chipinge this month. Of the three people suspected to have contracted the disease at Chinyamukwakwa clinic, two who got in contact with the person who is admitted at Rupangwana clinic in Chiredzi have since died. The patient admitted at Rupangwana clinic had come from the border area of Chipinge.

Cases of cholera have been reported in Mozambique in the adjacent province of Manica. Addressing journalists in Harare, the Deputy Minister of Health and Child Care, Dr Aldrin Musiiwa said efforts are being made to ensure the cholera outbreak is contained.
