Jonathan Moyo alleged to be attacking President after criticising Command Agriculture policy

Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Minister Professor Jonathan Moyo has been criticised by state newspaper, the Chronicle, for questioning the data and concept of the Command Agriculture policy. Analysts who are quoted by the Chronicle say that by questioning the Command Agriculture policy, Moyo was also questioning the leadership of President Mugabe.

This comes after Moyo who is an outspoken critic of the programme which was lead by Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa, said that the data being produced was false. He also said economic factors cannot be commanded but need sound policies. Some of his tweets on Command Agriculture read:

Command is a tried & tested military concept. It is also a great in programming. But in civil matters command is an oxymoron & non starter!

It’s about integrity. People won’t swallow fake command data just like that. The 2016/17 Presidential Input Scheme has been a huge success! I still prefer policy over commandism & it’s not about semantics but about science. Remember, #words Matter!

One political analyst quoted by the Chronicle Mr Goodwine Mureriwa said:

Firstly, Command Agriculture comes from the President himself and he is the one who appointed the Vice President (Mnangagwa) to lead the programme. So, anyone questioning the programme is questioning the President himself and the Cabinet that adopted it.
