Zimbabwe faces salt shortages as cash crisis affects country's largest suppliers

Zimbabwe is facing salt shortages after one of the country’s largest suppliers, Botswana Ash (Botash), said its operations are being affected by the cash crisis.

Speaking to Daily News, Botash general manager corporate services Victoria Lekoma said:

Cash crisis has affected volumes of our transactions and suppressed the movement of goods (processed sodium chloride and soda ash) from Botash into Zimbabwe for the past year or so.

The cash shortages have also affected international trade as companies operating in Zimbabwe are struggling to service their foreign obligations as well as procure raw materials.
