Former Zanu PF member Ray Kaukonde retires from active politics

In a Facebook post former Zanu PF Mashonaland East Provincial chairperson, Mr Ray Kaukonde announced that he was retiring from politics.

In the Facebook post Kaukonde wrote:

Retiring from active politics and let the youngsters take over.we have played our part as senior citizens of this great nation. wana wedu waakukwanisao kutangira patasiira.

Before his ouster from Zanu PF, he was also a member of the Politburo and Central Committee in the party. He was booted out of the ZANU PF party after he was identified with a faction that was plotting to remove President Robert Mugabe from power.
