Special Tactics policeman denied bail for robbery with AK-47 assault rifle

Amos Hlori (39) a member of the crack  Police Special Tactics (PSTT) unit appeared in court charged with attempted murder and armed robbery.  Hlori is alleged to have robbed a service station using an AK 47 assault rifle. He got away with $158 and a cellphone belonging to the attendant.  However, the whole robbery was recorded on closed circuit television and the victim was able to identify Hlori from a lineup.  The police also recovered the cellphone from a man who claimed that Hlori had sold him the phone.

The attempted murder came about because Hlori allegedly fired a bullet at the attendant after he had fled into the office.  The bullet allegedly narrowly missed the attendant.

Bulawayo Magistrate  Mr Tinashe Tashaya denied him bail and remanded him to the 15th of March.
