Former Minister Bhasikiti sued over $133 600 electricity bill

Former government minister Kudakwashe Bhasikiti has been sued by the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC), a subsidiary of Zesa Holding over an unpaid electricity bill of $133 600. The power company is demanding the outstanding amount, plus 5 percent interest per annum on the amount from the date the summons were issued.  It also wants Bhasikiti to pay for all legal costs incurred in recovering the debt.

The power company alleges that the former Minister refused to pay for electricity supplied to his farm, Moria Ranch. The politician had two electricity accounts and one had a balance of $84 806,72 while the other has a balance of $48 857,01.

Bhasikiti was also recently sued by parliament for failing to pay back a loan extended to all legislators to purchase Ford Ranger vehicles.
