Policeman charged with malicious damage of property for smashing windscreen

Mercy Dzapfunwa, a ZRP officer appeared before Mbare Magistrate Gladys Moyo charged with malicious damage to property. According to the prosecution, Dzapfunwa smashed the windscreen of an Ipsum belonging to Owen Chimuti in November last year, Chimuti had come across a police roadblock and after being told to move, he tried to overtake a stationary vehicle blocking his way. At this point Dzapfunwa hit the Ipsum’s front windscreen with a baton thrice, shattering it.

The value of the windscreen was $130, and the trial will continue on the 30th of March.
