Former Vice President Joice Mujuru held a press conference today to announce that she has changed the name of a political party to National People’s Party. Until recently Mujuru was the president of the Zimbabwe People First party. She fired 7 senior party members for plotting against her. However, the seven, who term themselves the elders retaliated by firing her. The claimed that they were the ones who had founded the party they could not be fired.
Mujuru seems to have remained her own party in an effort to avoid confusion between the two parties, as the fired members had insisted that they were going to keep the name Zimbabwe People First.
