Harare City council, EMA and ZNA carry out clean up at Kuwadzana 4, evict “space barons”

The city of Harare carried out a cleanup operation at Kuwadzana 4 shopping centre with the help of the Environmental Management Agency (EMA) and the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA). The council destroyed some make shift market stalls and evicted everyone at the flea market.

The city council advised all those who were selling their wares at the flea market to come and register directly with the city council. This follows allegations that there were “space barons” who were subletting the tables and spaces and collecting the money for themselves. The city council was not getting any revenues from the market.
