Plans to erect urban tollgates at an advanced stage - Kasukuwere

Minister of Minister of Local Government, Public Works & National Housing Saviour Kaukuwere revealed that plans to start building urban tollgates are at an advanced stage. The Minister revealed that there would be no going back on the issue insisting that this was the only way to fix the city’s dilapidated road network system.

Speaking to local councils and engineers Kasukuwere said:

We are meeting with stakeholders beginning today . . . we are moving to secure funding

These tollgates will help fundraise for cities’ roads rehabilitation programmes. You pay your 50 cents and the roads also get fixed. We are not going back.

The move has not been welcomed by motorists who feel that the government is already overtaxing.
