People in Mberengwa use ladder to cross river after bridge gets swept away

People in Mberengwa had to use a makeshift crossing ladder after Mwanezi bridge was swept away. Close to US$500 000 is required to repair the bridge.

Mberengwa West legislator and Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development, Dr Joram Gumbo said his ministry is taking Mwanezi bridge as priority and work has already begun to repair the bridge. Nine wards in Mberengwa West were affected after two high level bridges along Mwanezi river were affected by flooding, cutting communication in the entire district.

Midlands Provincial Roads Engineer, Mr Stephen Kamutema said their priority is on two high level bridges along Mwanezi river which were affected by floods. Meanwhile, people affected and displaced by floods in Mberengwa and Gokwe are in dire need of humanitarian assistance.
