Pastor Evan Mawarire’s case has been postponed to 16 March due to the State’s unpreparedness.
Mawarire is being charged with Subversion of a constitutionally elected government for organising protests in Zimbabwe and in New York. He was granted bail by Justice Clement Phiri of the Harare High Court. In his ruling Justice Phiri said in his view the evidence submitted by the state was very weak and granted Pastor Evan was granted $300 bail. He also has to surrender his passport and report twice a week at Avondale Police Station, on Mondays and Fridays. Mawarire was represented by Harrison Nkomo and Jeremiah Bamu of the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights.
