Mutasa and Gumbo order Mujuru to stop using Zimbabwe People First name and logo

Expelled Zimbabwe People First members, Rugare Gumbo and Didymus Mutasa, have written to Mujuru ordering her to stop using “their” party’s name.

The letter reads:

After your removal from the party you possess no power or right to continue with the use of the name which name can only be used by party members in terms of the party constitution. The name was coined by the Elders of the party and such remains a trademark which belongs exclusively to the party for sole and exclusive authorised use by members only of the party. Since your fall-out with the Elders, you effectively expelled yourself from the party and should refrain from continued use of the party name henceforth. Any further use of the party name in your dealings will be a violation of our constitution.

The name Zimbabwe People First is also being fought over by Mujuru and former adviser to MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai, United States-based Maxwell Shumba, who has since formed his party under the same name.
