Govt threatens to fire striking doctors

Government has threatened to fire doctors and nurses who do not show up for work.

According to a circular signed by clinical director N Madziva there will be a roll call at 9AM every morning at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals and anyone found absent will be removed from duty and will not be given any salary. The circular also notes that for one to return to duty they will have to apply again. Part of the circular reads:

Therefore anyone who voluntarily withdraws his or her services will be removed from the duty roaster. The same will not be allowed to enter the wards or to see any patients until reinstatement upon submission of an application to return to duty. It follows that whilst one is removed from the duty roaster, the same will not receive remuneration accordingly. The operations directorate will conduct a roll call at 0900hrs every morning. Anyone not available at the time will be deemed not available for service and subject to the above mentioned arrangements.
