The Constitutional Court is set to rule on a case challenging the legality of President Robert Mugabe’s presidential decree which introduced bond notes. Joice Mujuru challenged the constitutionality of the decree and has hired constitutional law expert Professor Lovemore Madhuku to argue the case.
Mujuru contends that the constitution does not allow the President make Statutory Instruments or amend Acts of Parliament.
The respondents in the case have opposed Mujuru’s application saying that it lacks merit, and want it dismissed with costs. The respondents are
- President Mugabe
- Parliament
- Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa
- RBZ Governor John Mangudya
- Attorney General Prince Machaya
