Didymus Mutasa locks out Sheriff to avoid getting his property attached to recover debt

Former Zimbabwe People First senior member, Didymus Mutasa reportedly locked gates and doors at his Umwinsdale property in a bid to block the Sheriff from attaching his property over a $26 919,25 debt owed to lawyers, Nyakutombwa Mugabe Legal Counsel, who represented him when he appealed against his sacking from Zanu PF in 2015 for allegedly plotting to oust Mugabe.

The assistant Sheriff, Mr Kapfudzaruwa, will now go back to the house with a locksmith to gain access to the premises after he faced resistance from Mutasa’s workers on February 1, 2017.  Mutasa, Rugare Gunbo and Temba Mliswa approached the lawyers after their expulsion from Zanu PF but however backed down after several applications. The lawyers however billed them $26 000 for the work they had already done. Justice Felistus Chatukuta issued a default judgement against Mutasa and ordered him to pay $26 000 plus interest.
