Teachers to petition Mugabe over Dokora’s new curriculum

The Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) held a stakeholders meeting where they resolved to approach President Robert Mugabe and appeal for the abandonment of the new curriculum.

Speaking at the meeting, PTUZ President Takavira Zhou said:

We are going to apply a multifaceted approach as this meeting has agreed, which include litigation, naming and shaming the ills and shortcomings of the curriculum so that we knock sense to the Government.

The union’s secretary said that they were going to petition Parliament and Mugabe stating that they were never consultated. The union is looking for 500 000 signatures from members.
