Kaukonde, Nguni and Mutambara ditch Joice Mujuru in protest over expulsion of "elders"

Joice Mujuru‘s Zimbabwe People First (ZimPF) party continued to self-destruct after more members deserted the party. Three more senior members resigned yesterday reportedly in protest over the expulsion of seven senior party members, who term themselves “the elders.” The three Ray Kaukonde, Sylvester Nguni, and Brigadier-General Agrippa Mutambara. Kaukonde and Nguni, just like elders who were fired on Wednesday are former Zanu PF stalwarts. Kaukonde in a resignation letter purpoted to be from him, which is circulating on social media, expressed that he was now taking a break from politics.

The expelled members, as well as those who resigned, are reported to have been against the coalition with Morgan Tsvangirai’s MDC-T.

Yesterday some members of the youth league also resigned yesterday. If this continues, Joice Mujuru may be left as a general who has no troops to command. The seven expelled “elders” retaliated by also firing Mujuru from the party, saying that as the founding members Mujuru had no authority to fire them
