Mrs Simangali Maphenduka of Safari Paradise Farm in Gumela area of Matobo District in Matebeleland South said that a part of a mountain in her farm disintegrated on Monday around 6AM.
This becomes the second incident to be reported in Matebeleland South after one such incident occurred in Filabusi last week following heavy rains. Said Maphenduka:
It was shocking. I was doing my morning prayers before I heard three loud noises coming from the mountain. I wa perplexed.Shortly I saw part of the mountain coming down destroying nearby trees. We were all shocked about the incident. This can only be God communicating with us.
However no geological experts have been consulted to shed an academic explanation as to why or what cause the landslide or disintegration.
