Dumiso Dabengwa refuses to donate cow for Mugabe's birthday party

Former cabinet minister and Zapu President Dumiso Dabengwa has refused to donate a cow for President Mugabe’s 93rd birthday party. The party will be held at Rhodes Estate Preparatory School (Reps), Matobo in Matabeleland South. The organising committee for the birthday has set a target of 150 cattle to be slaughtered for at least 100 000 guests. The committee is asking each farmer to donate 2 beasts for the birthday in order to show their appreciation to the president.
Dabengwa, however, indicated that he was not willing to donate anything as Mugabe had never given him a present on his birthday.

Said Dabengwa:

I hear Zanu PF officials have been at my farm asking for a beast for Mugabe’s birthday,

For all my birthdays, Mugabe has never given me even a sweet and why should I part with my cow for his birthday?

He also said that traditional leaders in the area should not be forcing people into making contributions for the party and promised to look into such cases.

We have asked our secretary for Arts and Culture to look into this issue. Nobody should be forced to do such a thing.

The local organising committee had said

All A2 farmers who got offer letters must donate a beast each for this event and those that will fail, we will take it that they don’t appreciate what the president has done for them
