Maridadi tells off Chombo in parliament, after Chombo claims 2,2 million jobs creation is on course
Mabvuku Tafara legislator James Maridadi fumed in the House of Assembly yesterday and told Minister of Home Affairs Ignatius Chombo that he was not leading ghosts or fools. This came after Chombo had claimed that ZimAsset’s goals of creating 2,2 million jobs was well on course despite the effect of sanctions.
Responding to a question from MDC-T Chitungwiza North MP Godfrey Sithole on the progress in the creating of the 2,2 million jobs, Chombo said:
Job creation is on course. Mining, agricultural sector, and higher education have created many jobs but there are just a few other companies that are not creating many jobs because of sanctions which you ordered.
FeedbackThis response did not go well with Maridadi who clearly felt that the Minister was being economical with the truth. Maridadi responded with
For a government minister to joke about unemployment is not good.

Unemployment is a serious matter. Which jobs are you talking about when mines are closing? I plead with you in God’s spirit that you remember you are leading people not ghosts.
…he minister should know that he is leading people who think not fools.
Chombo insisted that the government is doing well, in the face of the Western sanctions.
