Florence Ncube (43) from Njube suburb in Bulawayo assaulted her live-in boyfriend Nkosilathi Ncube (38), to death on January 24 after he denied her sex after a drinking spree.
Florence appeared before Western Commonage Magistrate Mr Lungile Ncube, facing a murder charge and was remanded in custody to February 10. The Magistrate also ordered Florence to undergo a mental examination. Prosecuting, Mr Mufaro Mageza said that Ncube had a misunderstanding with her boyfriend after he refused to be intimate with her resulting in her attacking him.
The landlord, Mrs Orpa Dube called the police after she heard the couple fighting. The two were taken to Njube police station for counselling. On January 25 in the morning, the deceased had difficulties breathing and was seen by the landlord who reported the matter to the police. The body of the deceased was taken to United Bulawayo Hospitals mortuary for a post moterm which indicated that Nkosilathi had succumbed to a skull fracture among other injuries.
