The Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) has revealed that most dams that supply major urban centres now have sufficient volumes of water to meet what they call the 21-month rule. The level of water in dams is rising with the National Dam level average currently at 59,2 percent. The increase in water levels will be a huge boost for agricultural activities throughout the country. The increase in dam levels has been welcomed particularly in Matebeleland after the City of Bulawayo had to embark on a massive water rationing exercise last year.
Some of the major dams are as follows:
Lake Chivero is currently spilling
Lake Mazvikadei is 106% full
Tokwe Mukorsi is 15% full
Mazowe Dam is 47,9% full
Lower Ncema is 30,8% full
Upper Ncema is 60,5% full
Insiza Fair is 97,3% full
Inyakuni is 34.6% full
Umzingwane is 36.6% full
Mtshabezi is 66.2% full
